    2021-22 Reentry Data Coordinator, AmeriCorps VISTA  

    Job Title: Reentry Data Coordinator VISTA; AmeriCorps VISTA is a one-year volunteer position. Members  receive a monthly living allowance (approximately $575 biweekly), healthcare benefits, some child care benefits,  professional development & training, and the choice of an education award of $6,345 or cash stipend of $1,800 at  the end of the service year.     Job Overview: The Center for Health & Justice Transformation (CHJT) is a non-partisan organization whose  mission is to advance health equity in the criminal justice system. In pursuit of this mission, the Center provides  technical assistance, training, capacity-building and develops innovative projects that work in unison to transform  our criminal justice system. We envision a criminal justice system that centers equity, is less punitive, and  redefines public safety. That system decriminalizes addiction, mental illness, and poverty prepares individuals and  communities for reentry, and seeks to mitigate the collateral consequences of conviction and incarceration. Central  to our public health framework is a commitment to equity in planning and decision-making. We strive to deepen  understanding of how the criminal justice system works from pre-arrest through adjudication, incarceration, and  reentry, as well as its impacts on families and communities.     CHJT has recently begun a new reentry project to help address the gaps in RI’s criminal justice system. This  project explores and analyzes the opportunities, accessibility, and efficiency of the current reentry resources in RI,  with the long-term goal of helping build a coordinated statewide reentry system. The Reentry Data VISTA will  support this work by helping lead the data management and analysis activities for the RI Reentry Collaborative  (RRC), a new community-based initiative coordinated by CHJT. This position will work with CHJT and RRC  staff to improve the collaborative data collection process needed to tell the story of RI’s reentering population. 

    Main responsibilities of the Reentry Data VISTA include: 

    1. Help lead RRC data collection and management: become familiar with SAS software & Excel skills  for managing RRC data; support and train RRC staff/partner as needed; clean and quality check data  submissions from partners; assist with data analysis and prepare quarterly reports; create an RRC data  procedures manual; help develop a sustainability plan for future RRC data management. 
    2. Develop a system for the RRC to efficiently access, summarize and share client-specific correctional  data with RRC staff/partners: complete required corrections training and orientation; establish  procedures and metrics to condense data; provide data coordination and oversite for all partners. 
    3. Support RRC staff/partners in modifying and launching its sustainability plan: coordinate with  national Technical Assistance providers; create and prepare materials and quarterly reports; assist with the  development and implementation of a communications plan. 
    4. Help build the Center’s capacity to raise awareness about prisoner reentry in RI: analyze and  visualize data; research RI-specific data related to the social determinants of health; plan and prepare for a  reentry simulation to engage and educate local stakeholders. 

    Personal Qualifications: 

    • Excellent computer and technology skills, including data entry, analysis, visualization and database  management 
    • Experience working with SPSS, SAS and/or R highly preferred 
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; High attention to detail 
    • Well organized; Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities 
    • Well-developed research and interviewing skills 
    • Comfort working in collaborative settings with a diverse set of stakeholders 
    • Commitment to learning about issues related to incarceration & public health
