The Juvenile Justice Reform VISTA works collaboratively with the staff at partner site Rhode Island for Community and Justice to build the capacity of community-based programs that divert youth from justice system involvement by promoting restorative justice, community investment, and racial equity.

The VISTA creates community education on diversion opportunities; identifies opportunities to collaborate with stakeholders to expand the use of diversion; improves and creates trainings on best practices in diversion; grows resources for community diversion; analyzes and shares outcome data; and supports the work of the juvenile justice reform team. Focus is on capacity building for Providence, Central Falls, Pawtucket and other RI cities.

This is a full-time AmeriCorps service position with a one-year commitment. Living allowance of $17,600 for the year provided by AmeriCorps; health benefit options are also provided by AmeriCorps. Members can choose to receive either the Segal Education Award or a cash stipend upon completion of their year of service.

Seeking: college graduate; some coursework / experience / interest related to juvenile justice; bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
